I think I found the problem --- my flat bar must have bent slightly and found its way against the wall of the relief pocket in the head for one of the water passages. I was splitting the manifold from the head by driving a flat bar along the gap (separation between the manifold and the head). Good thing I stopped when I felt the resistance or I would have really boogered up the head!!! Thanks |

The carb cars dont have locating dowls and the heads are the same as the injected ones. The manifolds are held on by studs to the head. What gap are you talking about? |

On a USA 2-valve injected car, has anyone observed whether the manifolds have pins (locating dowels) into the cylinder heads? While sliding a flat bar in the gap I seem to have hit something I didn't expect would be there. I am assuming it's a dowel???? |
