Interesting concern on the quality of the sending unit. So does anyone know the thread size on the sending unit so I can put a tee in the line and locate a mech. oil pressure gage in line to verify the electric one? Thanks |

That is about where mine stays and has for 22 years since I got the car. The low idle oil pressure on mine may be a bit higher, but right under 85 is the max at high RPM. Keep in mind, the oil pressure senders on these cars are very questionable. If you are that concerned have a mechanic check your "real" oil pressure then do a mental calibration to your gauge. You can also replace the sender..the next one may be better or WORSE...

The general rule of thumb is 10 PSI for every 1000 RPMs. My F355 idles cold at 65 PSI, idles warm at 50 PSI Runs 105 PSI above 3000 RPMs warm. Oil temp ~= 200 dF. After a hot session ot the track with oil temp ~=270 dF, oil pressure at idle 30 PSI, at 3000 RPMs 55 PSI, at redline 90 PSI. |

What should the correct oil pressure reading be at idle and during high RPM's? Mine seems low, at idle it's at low mark or lower and at high RPM's does not go above 85#, stays about 75#.The last issue I need is to burn up my engine. |
