Thanks Phil, Dave, and Rob for the education. It doesnt really bother me and since it seems to be within normal limits, I will just leave it alone. Dan |

The squeal is from excessive dust build up....have you ever noticed how all taxi's/buses squeal? Just whip the pads out, wash them with brake cleaner and scratch them up a little with some coarse (80 grit) emery paper. Apply a smear of anti seize high temp grease to the backing plates wherever they contact the piston or caliper, and refit. It's usual for new pads to do this, but after a quick clean up as suggested, it'll go away. Heavy braking will bring it back (track work), and the process can be repeated again. If you do a lot of heavy braking, then you'll be well aware of better pads for this use, but if it's only the occasional squirt your doing, then stock are ok. |

I have stock pads and they squeal, but I am not going to go to the bother of having them removed and treated. I figure if I can going to have them taken out, I will take that as an opportunity to have them upgraded to a better pad. I am considering the EBC "green stuff" pad sold by www.tirerack.com. The freinds of mine using them, speak highly of them for street use (I am never on a track). Everyone says no squeal. |

I use the stock pads and they squeal just as you say. I don't know if it goes away after a little wear. However, squeels don't bother me as it means the brakes are working well. |

There should be ways to remedy this...there are various products that can be applied to the backs of the pads to eliminate the resonance or frequency that causes the squeal. They probably already applied something, but there may be another product worth trying. Or different pads... |

Had new brakes and rotors put on my 328 a while back at Ferrari of Wash. This is not a new problem but I'm curious about it. The brakes squeal at moderate application, but not soft or hard braking. If I brake hard once all squeals go away until I guess the brakes cool or regain a rough edge on the pads (?). The braking performance is fine. FOW tells me its normal and is inherent with these pads. Any thoughts? Thanks |
