Tazio,
Your fuse panel swap is absolutely outstanding! It's a neat job, it works and it's inexpensive! (Am I talking about something on a Ferrari?!) I will be going to my local Napa store tomorrow to buy some fuse blocks. Your photos are clear and very helpful.
I think the ideas and the help available on this site are: priceless! Thanks again for a fine job!

Uh...mucho demando here. Please give detailed details and many pics; I'll wait for them on my dial-up.

My '78 308 radiator fans aren't working right now, and it overheats in traffic. It's driving me crazy because I just got it back on the road with a starter rebuild! I know a fuse block replacement is in order eventually, though I don't think that's my problem right now (and I read your recent thread about your rad. fans). thanks, Tazio et. al.

One item to watch while doing this mod - which is the right thing to do. Four or five, can't remember exactly, of the circuits are "tied" together by copper on the back of the original fusu blocks. It is obvious which ones they are. Be sure to "tie" the new fuses/circuits together in the correct order.

Tazio,

Glad my photo could be of service. Agreed, the stock Ferrari fuse blocks are utter rubbish and changing them should be S.O.P.

Enjoy the Drive,

Due to the high demand, I'll post pictures and a procedure shortly. Allow me some time to earn a living first and I'll then shoot some pics.

A step by step with pix and part #'s would be great.

That's great to hear! Anyone know if a similar fix will work for the Mondial's (82) notorious fusebox?
Thanks
Sam

I did the same as Tazio almost one year ago. It worked GREAT and I would do it again in a second.

Ciao Rob! Cool upgrade, man! I've been on a "restore" kick and was going to get around to it one of these weekends...

Can you post a picture of the final mounting? Can you post the NAPA # that you used? Does it use standard cylindrical glass fuses, or the Bussmann GBC Glass fuses that can fit in the OEM box?

Hi All,

I must first thank everyone who offered assistance on this project most notably Stephen R., JRV and Gerrit V. This weekend I replaced the OEM fuse blocks on my 308 for an aftermarket glass fuse block holder. I was totally against spending the huge $$$ Ferrari wants for their fuse blocks only to have to start soldering them to get them to work well. Instead I bought fuse blocks from NAPA and mounted them on a small aluminum plate to make them stiffer and to match the OEM mounting holes.

Total fabrication time for both fuse blocks was about 1 hour.

Tools used: a hacksaw, a drill and a rivet gun. I then made some jumper leads to join some of the fuses in the way they are originally and installed it on the car.

Total install time was about 15 minutes

My total parts bill came out to about $40 and I must say that the difference is astounding. Here is what the new fuse block repaired:

- Both cooling fans now run (my original reason for going into the electrics)
- Clock works perfectly
- windshield sprayer now works
- high beams now work
- all lights are brighter
- car starts better
- air smells cleaner and food tastes better

Ok maybe I'm getting a little too excited here but I am now very confident in the integrity of my electrical system and am sure that I'll save lots of time and money from having done this.

The moral of the story. CHANGE YOUR FUSE BLOCKS!!!!! I know they will not be 'original' but being original gets old fast when you are stranded at the side of the road with little more than an overpriced paperweight.
