UK spec Boxers should have had MPH speedos from the factory. |

I remember one of the Autocar(UK) articles reported quite significant speedo error in the Boxer when they did their high speed testing and "only" recorded 163 mph on the autobarn. Turned out the car had bad jetting IIRC. Anyway, they did find significant speedo error with the cars and infact reported it in one of the tables. The cynic in me is reminded of the adage in the UK from the late sixties, early seventies, easier to tune the speedo than the car/bike... |

I've now tested "full scale deflection" several times and happy it's well within the 10%. Is that what you tell the judge? |

Contact Palo Alto Speedometer, they may be able to more accurately calibrate the speedo.... |

Phil: When I drive my TR (US version) through these radar zones, the speed is RIGHT on.....60 MPH reads 60MPH on radar. Since there is NO US version Boxer replacement speedometer, I believe that all those replaced due to customs, where from a US car, that had different tire/wheel combinations. Your suggestion that I am on the safe side suggests that other Boxers where fitted with speedos from various US cars, with no thought of consistency, by the converting companies. I guess I will just have to live with it. Thanks

up to 10% error is expected and accepted at any speed. That said, you are more likely to have problems with the sender unit than the speedo itself. The original ones are like a turnip to look at, and are frequently troublesome. The later, more compact style ones are much better. And, at least yours is reading on the safe side!! Before I changed mine, it would get to 90mph, then drop to zero until I did about 120 when it would come back with a violent flick to 200mph and then settle. I've now tested "full scale deflection" several times and happy it's well within the 10%. |

When driving through posted radar-gun zones, I have noticed that the speedometer reads about 5 MPH too high, and the mileage is also higher than it should be. When I do 60 MPH, per speedo, the radar-gun states 55 MPH, etc. The speedo was changed to the US version, with MPH as the main large reading, and KPH in the smaller lettering. The tires and wheels are original size. Apparently the new speedo was from a US version car, hence the discrepency.......I don't believe that Ferrari made US versions of the speedo for the Boxer. If this is true, then are ALL US Boxer speedo's off? |
