I powder coated the pumpkin silver. It leaves a nice polished aluminum look. It is quite duller than chrome.
The Harbour Frieght kit is good, not great. It is the one that Tom Francis used to powder coat his entire engine, one part at a time. It does work, but we now need to give the gun a good disassembly and cleaning. The gun requires a good 10 minute cleaning between switching colors too. Overall, I can recommend it for small jobs.

I call the clutch cover on mine the "pumpkin". If you glass beaded it it would likely look nearly as good. I can personally recommend powder coating though. I bought a kit from Harbor Frieght for $100. Then the club bought some powder and an oven. We've used it extensively and there is no end in sight. Keep us posted on your progress.
The 348 is simply magic. Norwood's offers great support and with a few more issues tucked away, it'll be just spectacular.

Sam,
While I had the trans out, I'd be sure to check all "hard to get to" areas. ie the throw out bearing, slave cylinder, and as Billy says the rear main seal. Also, while I had it out I'd do a nice inspection on the clutch discs and everything like that. I've got my clutch out to repack the flywheel; I'd recommend this also. While I've got mine out, I used our clubs' powder coating setup to powder coat the pumpkin aluminum color. It looks nice. How's the 308?

Hi, got the trans out of my car (348 Mondial T) curious if there are seals I should be sure to replace as a precaution and labor saver while I have it out...any that particularly fail? any other helpful mods, like greasing the flywheel? anything to torque etc. engine mounts ...
