Paul, That is correct assumption on the rotors. They broke the mold so to speak. The original had rev limiters built in, the new ones that I have do not. I also dropped the price down to $175. Still expensive but best I can do. By the way everyone, expect a major change on www.sodacoms.com in the next month or two, working on a real nice new layout for the parts ordering and processing. Hopefully this will eliminate any of the "LAG" in the ordering process that has been experienced. On most cars about 30,000 miles. On Ferraris it is directly proportional to the cost of the part; the more expensive the part the quicker it wears out. My caps and rotors are fine but I will be calling Ben Millermon soon about the conversion to a single Mallory Unilite. I have had one on my Chev 350 for 35,000 miles and it still revs to 6,000 RPM in a blink. DJ |

these rotors were $2.28 in 1984...I just can not see how they could possibly be going for over $200 now, even with inflation(4% per year)and currency fluctionations...unless Marelli destroyed the original tooling and had to re-tool for this application... |

No affilliation, etc., but FChatter Ben Millerman has converted many 308s to a single electro-optical distributor with replacement $8 cap, $4 rotor and $50 wires. Simple, more reliable and easier to optinize tune Price: $500 I'm putting one on. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/307711.html?1061946681 Others examples available on a FChat search. My solution as I got tired of single bank ignition failures, $300 coils, $250 caps x2 and $500 wire set and nonadjustable advance curve. Just a data point best rt

I would try to find an alternative and make some light fabrication to make it work. This rotor isn't exact but is close. It fits a Fiat of some sort. Just thought I would try to help out on this.

$450.00 2 rotors; $600.00 +/- 2 caps = $1050.00 +/- Direct fire ignition $800.00 - $1100.00 I think the answer to 2v ignition issues is obviouse. |

I understand your comments on price, not much I can do on that but Marelli has us by the gonads on this. I will admit they are high prised, but if someone wants to keep there car factory... I may be able to do some on the price for F-Chat users but it will still be a high price no matter what I do. But I did want you guys/gals to know I had some in stock. FYI it is a Marelli part. Cheers, Dave

I don't need one, but if I did, $450 for 2 rotors! Whoever sells them can shoBe it. I will go straight to a direct ignition system just because I hate being screwed by someone I don't love. |

Dave (Parts man), My post was no reflection on you. It is just that rotors are a $10 item. I am sure you are giving the best price you can but why does Marelli screw us with a 2000% mark up? I need them but will not buy them. I am considering the QV upgrade at my next valve service. |

I upgraded to the QV rotors for less than this. Rotor $27.00 each adapter $75.00 Time and Machine shop, a good friend and Gods gift of knowing what to do. Car runs alott better too. My 2 cents kelly |

Dave, Thanks for the post, many are needing those buggers and I understand the law of supply and demand, BUT there is a difference between reasonable and insane pricing. I found another source about for a stash of the original ones a few months back and they only wanted $147. each! They are now out of stock, I think. If your company is the one making these, great and thank you, but couldn't you recoupe the initial production costs by selling in volume rather than severely overpricing? I can see tooling costs, but can these actually cost THAT much to make? If your company is selling them for the manufacturer, I'm sure buying them from the source, or another selling them (as you are), will hopefully be at a more reasonable price. When the QV ones are only $6-$8 each, what makes these SO special? I'm leaning towards the shaft end switch (to utilize the smaller tips) or going direct-fire ignition (more HP too). This is not a flame, but inquiring minds want to know more. |

$225? $450 for 2 ignition rotors? Marelli can stick them up their CEO's ass. That is robbery! |
