Mike, Yes he replaced everything supposedly. The reg. looked new when I got it back the first time. Rich, wouldn't you know that it WAS the regulator!! I still think my ex-wife had something to do with this! |

John, I'm assuming that the shop did in fact replace the voltage regulator at the time of the alternator rebuild and upgrade? To not do so would have been remiss!

Hey John thanks for the tips on the carb issue. I said regulator in my last post. I was kidding around about that. I am sure you knew that but I just thought I would try to help. I had the same problem before. |

A week ago or so I posted a ?? about the headlight-parking light upgrade on my 308. I had done the modification according to the schematic posted on FChat. When I finished I tried it out and it worked fine. The next day I jumped into it and started it up and noticed the alternator light was staying on. So I posted a ?? concerning this problem before I researched it, thinking I must of accidently loosened another wire. After 2 days of tearing my dash apart, and having wire strown everywhere I still couldn't find the problem. I thought to myself that their is no way it was just a coinsidence that my alternator would go out at that same time, especially since I had just had it rebuilt and rewound to 95 amps, when I rebuilt the motor a few months ago. I ran a few more tests and concluded that there was nothing else to check. So I took it out and dropped it off back at the alt. shop where it was rebuilt. He said to check back with him after lunch. Went back to pick it up and guess what? Yep, regulator tok a s__t! He said he had never seen this particular regulator fail before. Nothing related to the headlight modification, as I disconnected the battery when I did it. All this was happening at the same time that I was paying my mechanic and tow truck driver over $600.00 to fix my wife's Bronco that mysteriously stopped running in the middle of a busy intersection.(electronic ign. module fried) I know my ex-wife hates me but I wonder how she............................................................. |
