Birdman,

Sorry to hear of your fender bender :-( How is she running otherwise? Having KTR European do my 60k major shortly, so can relate to the $$$$. By the way, the book you very kindly sent to me is wonderful and all my gals really like it. Bravo!

Hi Steve,
Don't get worked up about $150. I just had a $3800 tune up and got into a fender bender on the way home from the shop, resulting in at least another $1,000 worth of damage (someone cut me off).

Now THAT gets ya worked up.

Barry,

Just arrived at my gal's place and getting was kinda worked up. No, not about her (though she is amazing). Was worked up how the $1 Radio Shack fix turned into a $150 one.

Then it hit me as i was still on my way to her place... The car runs great, always has. And here i am all bothered about a silly $150 part?!?! Let's face it, it could be worse.

MUCH worse! (knock on wood, crossing fingers, praying to Enzo for his devine wisdom, etc)

I see your point, Steve. Your solution seems most reasonable. In the greater scheme of things, $150 isn't too bad.

Now you'll have two motors to exercise "dried rubber coating removal therapy" with for those times where this might be of assistance to you.

Barry,

Think you are right BUT it is a major PIA to work with. Seems some parts of it are VERY hard/dried and therefore not really coming off :-(. Heck, the new motor is $150 and at this point i already ordered a new one plus a few other bits i needed. What concerns me is peeling it off is problematic as there are tight crevasses i can't seem to get to. Heck with it, $150 to the Ferrari parts fund will not break me and i'll have a totally new part in the process.

Maybe someone in the future has time on their hands and i can donate this motor to them.

Steve,

Would you say that's a PlastiDip spray-on rubber coating? If so, I guess it can be peeled off easily enough to get to the components. Seems like a pretty good idea. You can spray on a new protective coating when you're all done.

Whooo! Once I removed the rubber covering on mine, all I had was wires and steel. Have no idea. Good luck.
