John, Yes, mine's a 1976 308 GTB. Your tag should be in the same position. It's a little easier to see on my car without the air box in the way.

barry nice camera work. based on your user ID, i assume that is a 308, not a 328 because i couldn't see the whole stamp on my 328 and i had no chance to take a picture of it john |

i found it...it is located on the top of the engine block, on the right side, between the V....it almost looks stamped on the block vs. a tag |

That may have happened, although i doubt it considering the condition of the car. But I don't know where it is supposed to be to even check that out...any ideas? |

It might be like my car, where the rivets rusted and the tag was about to fall off, so I removed it. I plan to remount it, but after we paint the engine compartment. Maybe the previous owner removed it as well. If you have conatct check with him, replacements are quite expensive when you incorporate the embossing of your vehicle's info. |

I was doing a little exploring on my 1989 328 today and comparing the tags/labels with the manual just to check originality etc....They are all fine and actaully in pretty good shape but i couldn't find the actual engine #/ID tag. It shows in the manual as being located somewhere but not clear to me exactly where....Any suggestions? |
