Since there's no input from the MSD6 unit, it would be safe to remove it. Just check the schematics in the .PDF manual to see where the wires go. Worse scenario is no tach reading, but I can't see how that would be possible in either current or voltage setup. And if that did happen fo some peculiar P.O. hack then just wire it back in the way it was. Jeff Davison |

Yes, you guys are right. It is probably a tach adapter. Question is, is it still doing something now that my MSDs are gone? Just curiousity, I won't mess with it. |

MSD has 4 different tach adapter boxes. The one in your picture matches the form factor for the 8920. Here's a link to MSD's installation poop http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/8920_tach_adpater.pdf Jeff Davison |

I'd start by unscrewing it & looking to see if there's a lable on the bottom side. Also tracing the wires to see what they connect to. Likely candidates: =Tach adapter -shock/impact sensor -roll-over sensor -GOK box |

It's the black box....in the event of a huge accident, get to it as soon as possible and the rescuers will be sure to find you. |

It looks exactly like the bomb I made in chemistry class in high school...don't touch it! |

Looks like 3 wires coming out of the box (one grounded). And I don't have an alarm system. I guess I should just yank the damn thing out and be done with it (like I do everything else...) So what if my ejection seat stops working? It is not like I'd run into Dr. EVIL anytime soon ;-) |

If it's just a 2-wire device, how about a pendulum motion sensor switch for an alarm system? |

it is about the same size as an MSD Tach Adapter box. Since the Car had an MSD Ignition, that would be my guess. Jeff DAvison |

Previously there were 2 MSD units in that "hole". Think it is related to that? Now that the MSDs are gone replaced by the Electromotive, wonder why this is still here...?? |

I was cleaning out the trunk of the 308 and under the carpet in that "hole" at starboard aft is this black box with wires connected to something. Anyone knows what that is? Control module for the ejection seat maybe? Oh, that cylindrical black thing is something Carlo put in to hold up an aluminum cover for that area.
