Thanks, Dave. The popping noise only occurred about 3 times and then never again. Probably just the Ferrari Gremlin running through the car looking for something else to fowl-up!!! |

Stephen, The area you describe the leak could be from the water pump or a hose connection over the water pump that leaks some water onto the water pump belt from where it is thrown onto the fire wall below and/or on the rear window on the passenger side. I would tighten all the connections and carefully look at the hoses near water pump. After that, check the water pump itself while running. No clue about the popping sounds. Dave |

There are two 4" rubber hoses that inter-connect the coolant return and feed pipes (to the engine coolant pipes) that run from the radiator to the engine, they are directly in front of the engine (dead center). Also check the two 4" rubber hose's under the intake plenum just in case but most likely the one of the two I first mentioned. |

Help! My wife and I were taking the F-Car on our vacation this weekend, got about 30 minutes from the house, when I looked at the guages and saw that the water temperature needle was buried past 120 degrees Celsius. I promptly returned home, with air conditioner off and speed at a minimum. The drive home saw the temp. fall to around 105-110. Also, the car made a popping sound about 3 times, that seemed to be coming from the front, or at least middle, of the car. Once in the garage, I noticed that there is a coolant leak just in front of the engine (next to the rear window) and on the passenger side. Did I cut a line? The cooling system still seemed to be maintaining pressure, as evidenced by the amount of hot air that came out of the release/drain valve located on the radiator, before fluid started bubbling out. The leak is not coming from the overflow tube located on the other side of the car. Any ideas? |
