I NEVER reuse rods & mains, rod bolts, and cam bearings it's doubtful I reuse either....I'm from the school of picking new bearings up by the edges to prevent even getting a fingerprint on the running part of the shell.

But since it's not my motor {:-)}, if you marked positions and are sure they're all going back into their original places you'll probably be able to get away with it. Just watch out for tight spots.

I already have a modified tranny with a sixth gear and beefed up internals. This is what they should have produced with the car from the start.

I reuse bearings in my race motors if they meet my specifications. The motor should do fine at 600hp if everything is right.

My question is how are you going to get the Renault transaxle intact?

From what I haveasked around and heard, they do hold up pretty well. The engine was detuned so the tranny would hold up well.

If you changed oil often previous to the rebuild and upon inspection of the bearing surfaces there's no scoring/heat-checking/cracks/etc and since this motor only has 9K on it, I'd reuse the bearings...

...But, since you are mod'ing the motor for 600HP, do you know if the stock bearing materials can cope with this power? Would the stock lubricating system handle it? I imagine it all would, but I'm speculating it may max it out. Definitely if you kept the stock power, I'd have no worries.

I am in the process of rebuilding my lotus engine(I have to reseal the liners for there was a batch of v8 with leaking clinder liners)--putting in forged pistons, port and polishing, and whole lot of other goodies. The question I have is should I keep the same cam bearings, main bearings, connecting rod bearings, since they are run in or would you replace them, my motor onlyhas 9000 miles so they really aren't worn at all. Can't wait till I get this motor up and running as when I am done I will be pushing close to 600hp.
