If the unit is properly charged it should not freeze up at any temp. setting or fan speed. That being said, there are those who purposely use a slightly lower charge so they can get the coldest air at the highest fan speed. That is way I have done mine. |

Came home for lunch and the a/c didn't even come on. I will check the relay. Thanks! It is hotter than you know where today. 103* |

Scott, Does it blow cold again if you turn off the A/C then turn it back on again? If so check that you have a gold relay for the condenser fan in front Relay box. I had the same problem about 6 months ago and it was the relay that was causing the problems due to there being a standard relay in the socket for the condenser fan. When the condenser fan turns off, the de-energising of the coil generates back EMF - this goes back to the ECU and shuts off the 12V to the A/C clutch and can only be reset by turning the A/C off and back on again. The Gold relay was an update on latter cars (the gold relay has a diode across the coil to stop the back EMF being generated) Regarding Franks suggestion - there is a sensor that is in the evaporator that if it senses a temperature lower than 3-4 degrees? Centigrade it will send a signal back to the ECU to drop the 12V to the A/C Clutch. Obviously if this is not working the evaporator could freeze up. The only other thing that I can think off is possibly a dodgy tri-switch on the filter dryer. Paul

I thought of that Frank but I happens quite fast. Only blows cold for about 3 minutes. However, I will check when I go out at lunch time and try setting it to a higher temp. |

It is probably freezing up because you have it turned to the lowest setting. |

Just had my A/C charged in the 348. It comes on and blows cold for a period and then cycles off and blows warm. I have the setting down to the lowest point. Is there a sensor that controls the A/C temp that may be bad? Any suggestions? Thanks, Scott |
