I had a similar problem once. Loose and dirty connection on the solinoid. Short the spade lug of the solinoid to the large power cable with the car in neutral. It the starter runs the problem is in the wiring. If not problem is in the starter. I found replacement solinoid for $30 and you can get a new bosche armature for the starter for $190.

Are you sure that the repair shop tested the starter motor under load, it can work all the time on the bench, but once loaded up having to turn the engine it's a different matter. Check to make sure that you have 12 volts at the starter motor when cranking, also double check the engine to chassis earth. Having said that I think your problem will be in the fuse box / relay board area (as Tom b suggests) but it's woth looking at the easiest options first

I do not quite understand your problem, on my Mondial I would turn the key to start the engine and would just hear the solenoid click in. If this is the case you may find that there is a voltage drop at the starter end. Somewhere in the message boards is a diagram to insert a relay into the system.

I'm not saying that replacing the fuseblock and its PC board will solve the starting problem but it did for me. Along with a host of other intermittent electrical problems.

I have a problem with the starter turn the key and you can hear the starter motor clicking then after 4 or 5 attemps it will start. Took the starter motor off and had it recondtiond still have the same problem. I have now cleaned up the battery and all the wireing and the earth straps. on looking at the earth switch that disconnects the earth was not turning on the power. So to see iff this was the problem I have bypassed the switch and still have the problem do I need the switch working correctly because I have connected it back up and certain things dont work. Window wipers electricwindows indecaters but hazzards work cigarete lighter. clock hand brake warning light sunroof reverseing lights when I bypass the switch the engine will start and run but the starter is still sticking.
Thanks in advance ash
