There is a big nut on the lock cylinder that has probably come loose. Bit of a pain but not too bad of a job. Be sure and lubricate everything real good while you are in there. |

I have checked the archives but I can't find any history of anyone having their door lock assembly, 308, loosen and become inoperable. The mechanism can rotate about a 1/4 turn when you turn the key. As a result the stem for the door lock is no longer functional either. I have looked at the diagram in the shop manual but didn't come away with a very good idea of how the mechanism is secured to the door. I assume there is a threaded collar which has gotten loose. However, before I take the panel off I thought I would ask the experts. Perhaps some of the folks who have recently done complete repaints could share their experience. A few words of explanation would be appreciated. |
