I'm not sure what a 355 power steering rack looks like, is it a standard hydraulic system or electric?
I thought about power steering before and did a little searching. You can get a custom power steering rack for just about any application check this link http://www.woodwardsteering.com/hot.htm
The biggest problem I foresee is trying to squeeze the power steering input thingy between the rack and floor of a 308. There is very limited space in that area and most power steering racks have an extended input shaft with a bunch of hoses sticking out. You would definitely not want to plumb the thing in the interior of the car. Anyway, check the woodward site they have some neat stuff.

The biggest complaint I have is excessive effort is required to turn the car at low speeds. At the autocross, I have to remove my watch to prevent cutting and bruising my arms. I would love to add power steering and won't even consider a faster ratio rack that wasn't power. If you find something that works I love to hear about it. |

An upgrade that is available is a quick ratio rack available through the Superperformance folks - it is a bolt in replacement:
Rack and pinion only LHD Fast 2.5 turns lock to lock. Transforms steering,complete with Ruuber gators and track rod ends (Set) 2873F �205.00

I wish they made that for a Mondial, but apparently the racks are different.

I am considering changing out my 308 steering rack and installing a 355 power steering unit... anyone tried this yet??? |
