Erich, On mid to late 60's cars the service recommended by the factory was very vague, however in the UK a "major" service on a car from the 60's - 70's I would expect at least the following :- 1. Strip carbs, clean jets and re-set float levels. 2. Strip distributors, replace points & condensors and rephase on tester. 3. Replace spark plugs, air filters, fuel filters. 4. Check and adjust tappets, check valve timing and adjust timing chain. 5. Carry out full engine tune. 6. Remove wheels and check brake pads / discs for wear, bleed brakes. 7. Service air-conditioning system (if fitted) 8. Full lubrication service, oils and filters. "A major service" as recommended by Ferrari should be carried out every 12,000 miles, but as always it's down to the owner. MW |

Erich: For the 328, there is a "periodic maintenance" section Pg 55 & 56 in the Owners Manual. If you want, email me I'll scan & send a copy to you.

Forgive a new guy if this has been hashed to death before.... I see the subject phrase mentioned a lot. What is done during a "major service". How often should they be performed? My interest is primarily in mid to late 60's cars but don't let that limit your responses. Thankyou, Erich
