With these cars, I've learned that clean connectors and good ground is very important... You might think about a trickle charger to keep your battery from dying... as for the starting situation, clean all the connectors, even the ones from your battery terminals.

Hi Scott
Thanks. After I read your posting I went out and checked my car and the small round connector to the control box that sits on the passenger side was lose. I unhocked it and re-seated it. I'll let the car sit for acouple of days and try it. I'll post my findings then. Thanks for all your help.

I think I can help with this one. My TR had exactly the same problem. Wouldn't start, until the battery was just about dead, then bam!, would start up and run just fine.

After tracing a bunch of wiring, it turned out that one of the connectors to the control boxes that sit on the passenger side rear fenderwell had a cracked locking ring and was only making intermittent contact. Got the AMP part number off the old connectors, and bought a couple of complete connectors at the local electronic supply store. Replaced the lockring, and havent had any trouble since.

I have an 87 Tr. If the car sits for a week and you go to start it, it will turn over but not fire. I pulled off the ignition coil wire and checked for spark and there was none. After tring for awhile where my battery was just about dead the spark came back and it tries to start. I plug the coil wire back in and it fires up right away. The car will start all day after that, even if go out the next day. Just if it sits for a long time. Do you think I might need new Coils or could it be something else? Thanks
