I did have richer idle jets to help with the stumble. And it did help. But, things got too rich, and I ended up going back to stock (which I believe is 55 for the idles). I just deal with the stumble, it's not too bad. Just part of the car.

Re: idle mixture, you have to watch this too. It's really easy to get too rich at idle and foul things up at stoplights.

Take a swap with your finger of your exhaust, see if you've got a lot of black soot. That'll tell you :-).

mike, did you just richen the mixture or change the idle jets? I'm currently running the 55 idle jets.

I believe that is also right about where the transition is very apparent from idle jets to main jets, at least on my car. Many other carb 308 owners report the same thing, a lean condition at this point.

Spitting means its lean. If it goes away when the accel pumps kick in, it doesn't sound like delivery.

was wondering what others are using...I recently changed my fuel pump to a holley red which requires at least 8mm hose...I currently have 8mm from the output side going to a regulator (set at 4 psi) and 7mm going up to the carbs...at around 3500 rpms I am getting some spitting from the forward carbs(side closest to trunk and can't be tuned out) which will go away if I lay more throttle in while driving..wondering if perhaps I have caused a bottle neck which is reducing flow. any thoughts?
