You cant replace syncros with the gearbox in the car but you can leave the engine mounted to the box once its out.

Mike,

For all practical puposes, it's best to remove the drivetrain as an asembly to do major work on the gearbox...as gear/shaft re-assembly is much, much easier when the gearbox is in the vertical position.

Let's say I've got a bad 3rd syncro, and wanted to replace that one and maybe a few others.

Do I have to pull the engine to remove / work on / replace the gearbox in a 308?

1978 308 GTS, Carbed, US Spec.
