I'm not sure that I would use the Fiat bearing, but an interesting point is that the Fiat 124 initially used a 1438cc engine, which later grew to 1600cc then to 2000cc. The engineer who designed this Fiat engine also designed the original 308 engine. I believe his name was Ing. Ricchi.

I had a Fiat 124 coupe I bought in Europe in 1970. The engine is very similar, especially the head design, to the early 308 engines.

The SKF part number is: SKF 8A28 633340 8 FRANCE 10 296X, the brown wrapping paper is labeled: BRANOROST

This tensioner works perfectly on my GT4.

Michael, I will doublecheck the part no's tonight, but I am very sure they are correct for your car. Please email me your address. I received your two emails just fine, shipping is probably around $4.00 including tracking (.50 cents).

Don,
If they are either part #s 105206 or 126720, I'll take two. I tried to e-mail through your profile e-mail and sent a copy to myself, but I never received my e-mail so I don't know if you did either. Please e-mail me, [email protected].
Thanks,
Mike

Arie/others, if anyone needs the OEM belt tensioner bearings, I have 8(new) for sale at $30.00 US for each bearing plus shipping. I will post the part number if requested, but they work fine on my 308gt4.

I did a bit more research and X-referenced the VKM22380 with ALFA ROMEO/FIAT/RENAULT, and here is a place with Ferrari parts that has a listing showing a price of $ 72

Jay,
Given the number of different tensioners used on Fiats, do you know for sure that your car had the Fiat tensioner with 617546A bearings in it?

Arie,
After doing some very extensive research I was able to get to the bottom of it. The correct part is #617546A/HT22. However SKF does NOT market this bearing any longer. What you get now is an SKF box and bearing with a VKM part number. The casting on the bearing is the same as the original. I bought some a few months ago while in Europe. I might have an xtra set. If interested please email me direct.

Guys when I bought my car it had Fiat tensioner bearings, I took them right off and threw them away even though they were brand new. The width of the tensioner was exactly the same size as the belt, there was no allowance on either side for the belt. The Ferrari ones are oversized. Piece of mind is priceless

Bought a pair of tensioners from George Evans
a while back, SKF box was marked: VKM 22380

BTW, My old bearings were stamped: 617546A

What we need to know is the Fiat model & engine that used the 617546A tensioner bearing.
International Auto Parts catalog doesn't list either of the numbers, but perhaps a phone call to them might yield the necessary info. Especially since the Fiat prices are a lot less than the F* prices:

I am not sure, but this might be a lead..
OEM ferrari (SKF #617546A/HT22)
and this site has a 617546A size 25X52X20.6
for a Fiat. It might be the same ?
