Good news! Fuel pumps okay, burned connector at relay/fuse box cut off power to them. Possibly caused by loose fit in the connector plug from the board to the hot lead that caused arcing. Everything cleaned up, tightened up. Will watch it to see how it works. If it happens again, I guess I'll have to replace the connector.

Thanks Verell, some day, sooner or later, I'll need to use the fuel pump information.

They sure don't make it easy, do they? You learn something every day. Great detective work!

Well, John, you just gotta have years of internet experience and know how to coax info out of the woodwork so to speak of these web sites(Heheh)!

Actually, I did NOT go to www.bosch.com /www.boschusa.com which I just tried & they didn't list anything for the 400i.

BTW, the boschusa.com web site did list the same fuel pump for the '83 308,

AND gave a BOSCH USA part# of: 61975

& indicated that it was available from AutoZone in
my northern MA. area.

I have an AZ connection, & I'm curious as to what price AZ comes up with.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the procedure to find ALL the parts BOSCH provided for a specific vehicle model:
As you can see, I really was ferreting it out of the woodwork. I went thru this looking for alternate parts for my fuel accumulator.

The gory details(long) are posted below.

1) Goto: http://www.bosch.de/
2)Click on ENGLISH at the top of the page
3)Click on the 'Automobiles and Repair Shops' on the left menu bar under 'Products and Services'.
4)Click on 'Car parts and accessoires' on the menu bar just to the right of center.
5)Click on 'BOSCH Online Catalogue'on the left menu bar under 'Products'.
6)A new window will come up. Under Language select 'English(GB)'.
7) Finally you've got the online catalog(whew).
Click on 'Vehicle' at the top of the page under 'Online Catalogue'.
8) Select Ferrari in the Manufacturer pull down list.
9) Select your model in the pull down list that has appeared, & enter the year in the appropriate box. Ignore the rest of the boxes & click 'SEARCH'.
10)Click on the vehicle model line for your car that appears under 'description'
11) Click on the menu 'tree' items until you get down to the part you want, or you find out it isn't available.
12)When you get to the part, click on it's name eg'Fuel Pump' under the 'Product Group' column.
13) The screen will then display the part#.
To find out what other vehicles use the same part:
14)Click on the part number and a small menu will pop up:

Article Information
Manufacturer Address
OE Numbers
Vehicle Links

Clicking on OE Numbers gives a table of OEM names and their part#s for the BOSCH part. eg:
ManufacturerNumber
CITROEN 1450 47
CITROEN 7910 247 034
FERRARI 113976
FORD 78GB 9350 AA
MERCEDES BENZ 116 091 02 01
PEUGEOT 1450 47
PEUGEOT 7910 247 034
ROLLS-ROYCE UR 21823

Clicking on Vehicle Links gives the table in my earlier post in this thread.

Verell

Thanks very much! But, how did you get the part number off of the Bosch website? I tried that and got a big fat zero.

Regards,

John

The the 400i fuel pump is BOSCH part number:
0 580 254 975 Fuel Pump Inline
according to the BOSCH online catalog.

I just got a vy good price $119 + $6 S&H on a BOSCH fuel accumulator from Part Werks:
[email protected]

Send them the BOSCH p/n & request a price quote, incl shipping.

They regularly sell BOSCH fuel system parts for Porsche & Mercedes on eBAY.

BTW, BOSCH also says that fuel pump was also used on:

It looks as though I may need a new fuel pump for my 1983 400i.

Any recommendations on the best source and price for this item?

John
