George, shrink the pic to 640x480 and it will post just fine. If you still have trouble, email it to me. |

International Auto Parts hasn't had Vitaloni mirrors for months. Nor have most US dealers for that matter. The Californian model are available from Ferrari UK. Personally would like to purchase 2 new/like new Vitaloni Tornado (not the baby Tornado), or will trade for 2 new Vitaloni Baby Turbo mirrors.

Here is a decent pic of the mirrors--NOT! What gives? I have tried to shrink the picture as much as possible, but I still get an error message! How do some of ya'll post these HUGE pics? Frustrated...

My '81 308 came with only the driver's side electric mirror. The car looked unbalenced. I removed the mirror, bought two Vitaloni "Baby Turbo" mirrors-$24.95 each at Pep Boys-(they resemble 512 BBi mirrors that I have seen) and sold the electric stock mirror. Car looks great and the lighter weight non-electric mirrors have vastly improved my track times :-) Seriously, they look great and nobody can really tell that they are not stock. |

I got a couple of those Vitaloni California thingys on my 77 308. They look great. My only complaint is you can't adjust them so you can see anything in them |

Jonathan, As I stated before, the design from Vitaloni was changed some years ago, and the bases are now reversed, and the glass is tinted blue. The only way to find an original right side mirror is to happen upon some NOS at Ferrari UK, or some other supplier, or get one off a parted out 308... |

Barney, I think your mirrors look good. I know for a fact that some Ferrari dealers were installing your type of right side mirror after the cars came from Italy. It was an accessory they offered. |

Actually the left and right california mirrors are still avaiable. They are popular models for race cars and can be bought from a number of race part suppliers. I know for sure that demon tweeks in England sells them (www.demon-tweeks.co.uk). |

Jonathan, No, but you may be able to find some NOS at Ferrari UK or one of the other many Ferrari parts houses in North America... |

So do they still make a Vitaloni California for the right side that matches my driver's side mirror or are they all like Dave Handa says with the base reversed? Jonathan

Barney, To the best of my knowledge a passenger mirror on your car was not original and added after the car left Italy. If you are more concerned with $$$$ than originality by the Pronto and put it on the drivers side. If originality is your thing then you will have to fork out the big $$$ and buy an original mirror. My opinion is that it is too minor a detail to be worth 10x more money. |

Tazio Would that suggest that my car did not come original with a passenger mirror? I guess i am just looking for a match, either way. |

Barney, The passenger mirror you have is a Vitaloni Pronto and is available from International Auto Parts for $33.50. Here is the catalogue link: http://www.international-auto.com/pdf_files/IAP69.pdf Your driver's side mirror is an OEM power unit. Jonathan: Your mirror is correct for an early car. It is the Vitaloni California mirror which is still available and very popular. When I bought my car it had a factory euro 328 power mirror. Sorry I have no pics but it looks like a Vitaloni Baby Turbo with a small full colour Ferrari badge on it. I took it off (good for over $300 on E-bay) and put on the Califonia mirror. When I removed the mirror I found the original mounting holes and an 'outline' of a Califonia mirror base on the original lacquer paint. |

Bert, Your mirror looks like a Vitaloni 'Baby Turbo' which is still available & modestly priced. It could be a Vitaloni Turbo which was used on the Euro 308s after the Vataloni Californian was phased out. They've been out of production for quite a while. If you'll get a picture showing the full base I can tell you if it's either of the above. |

When the Vitaloni Californias kept on dropping and were useless for a long trip I was going to make, I bought these for 12 Dutch guilders, is 5 Dollars, for the PAIR. Was meant temporary but they gave good vision and looked like other mirrors that had been mounted on the 308/328, so they stayed. Don't know the brand, just got them in the local car parts shop.

Dave, I do have the plastic cover cap for the mirror, just forgot to include in picture. It also has blue tinted glass and is electric. Looking at Barney's picture, it is identical to the left side right down to the logo on the cover. Anybody interested? Mick |

Dave is right...it's a U.S. car. The mirror is not electric. The sticker on the top of the mirror says Vitaloni Californian. When I first got the car, the bright yellow sticker on the mirror made it seem like an aftermarker mirror, but it appears to be stock. JB

Barney, that mirror is a Vitaloni "California" mirror, used on the 76-79 308gts/gtb's. They are still available for around $30 at many import auto parts store, but be warned, the new versions have a slightly different base (reversed with the "pointy" end facing forward) and a bluish tint to the glass. Oh, and they are not electric. |

Hi Guys, Here is the mirror on my '77 308. Best I can tell it is stock, based on a couple of books and a factory brochure. There is no passenger mirror. Jonathan

Barney, The passenger side mirror looks vaguely like a Vitaloni Turbo mirror, but maybe something else, as I don't recall them having the bellows. Mick, that mirror you have is appropriate for a QV or 328, but is missing the front plastic cap, which is not a huge deal, but they cost $25 for a reproduction (oem is no longer made). If it works, it is probably worth $90 or so... |

I think I like the passenger one better. The passenger side is more rounded with the boot and also the cleaner base.

Good idea Jonathan, My 1981 308GTSi only came with a drivers (right)side mirror. As I couldn't find a suitable match for the left side, I bought a replacement pair recently. Not quite as big but neater. Not so square. If the enclosed mirror is of any use to anyone, I'm open to sensible offers. Mick |

I think we should start posting pictures of mirrors to figure out what mirrors are on different cars. The mirror on my 77 308 really sucks, but when I look at brochures, it seems to be stock. |

Glad you posted this, I was thinking the same about my UK 308GTBi. The drivers side is electric but not the passengers. Funny thing is that every picture I see, they all seem to have different styles. Mine are very square, but I've seen some nice rounded edges...the mystery continues |

The earlier 308s came with only a drivers side mirror. Owners often added a passenger side one that didn't always exactly match. I thought that the '81 GTBi models came with dual mirrors tho. Perhaps a PO or dealer replaced a broken one with a miss-match. The electric mirrors are big $$, & are hard to come by, so it may have been an economy or desperation replacement. |

At the last gathering, a few people noticed that my 1981 308 has 2 different side view mirrors. The drivers side is electric and the passenger side is not, but the mirror shapes on the outside are very different. Anyone else have this or know what this is about? |
