Well on the way to Ferrari of Atlanta this morning (I was going to pick up the accelerator cable and the up dated linkage thing) the throttle got stuck wide open approx 1 mile from FOA. I just costed in and let them replace it of 1.5 hours of labor plus parts. it was around 360.00 total and it works perfect now. They showed me the cable, and it was in decent condition, but the culprit was the berings in the linkage... They were rusted up. This is what I get for buying a garage queen car. The good thing is it works great now and I'm not embareassed anymore when it sticks. Thanks for all your suggestions |

I've done the updated throttle cam on top of the engine...helped a little, but this is a vacuum thing. Overcoming the vacuum on all the throttle bodies takes a little too hard of a push on the gas pedal at slow speeds. Learn to live with it. |

Kevin Before you replace the cable. Have you checked the Ferrari cruse-control? Yes the cars did come with a free hidden cruse-control. Most owners never knew they had it until it turns on by itself. It is located right under the drivers feet. To turn it off you need to locate the on and off switch. The switch is called the "floor mat". LOL. Other people have had "sticky throttle" problems that turned out to be the floor mat getting buched up around and behind the throttle peddal. I would check that out first before you go spending money on a cable you may not need. |

Kevin, the updated part is located at the top of the engine - it's a revised throttle "cam", about the size of your palm. Before you try that, though, try replacing your throttle cable. Ferrari has a nifty way of threading the cable right pass a very, very warm hose. This causes the throttle cable sheathing to become stiff over time, and the cable itself becomes "stuck" a bit in that portion of the cable. The cable itself isn't that expensive, and it should take less than 15 minutes to replace. vty, --Dennis

Kevin there was an update to the linkage for the F355, might be worth establishing if this is done. |

Hi all, I just purchased a '97 F355, (15k miles) and it runs and drives perfect. I put approx 1000 miles on the car in the last 2 days (I drove it from texas to atlanta Ga) during the drive only once I experienced the throttle stick, and it has also done it once while sitting in a parking lot (I revved it up a little). Is this a common problem? can I lubricate the cable, or does it need to be replaced? I hope you can help... Thanks in advance... Kevin P. |
