I have already repaired it, the problem was a contact in a cable. The rev rcounters of the 328 is just as the one of alfa romeo 75. Greetings |

Wimeldo, The tachometric sensor is attached to the bell housing where it pick up signals from the flywheel. If this was bad, the car would not run or run very poorly. The tach is wired to the ecu which is in the rear trunk driver's side. Lift up the carpeted piece and unbolt the plate. Ecu is attached to underside of the plate. However, all the connections to the ecu are in one big plug. It is very doubtful the problem is here. You can be 99% sure that the problem is in the rev counter itself. In the states, there are a couple of places that rebuild them. (I had it done myself). I'm sure there must be somewhere in your country. Dave |

Wimeldo, I have heard of problems identical to this that occured with 328's here in North America. In some instances, it was due to a faulty Magnetti "Microplex" unit, or simply the connection (wire terminal #24. Look in your Owner's Manual, page 74). |

Wimeldo, You can either replace the tach, or have it rebuilt. Replacements are available from Ferrari UK at a reasonable cost (around $300 last time I checked). You could find a speedometer repair shop, experienced in Veglia instrument repair, and have it fixed for probably half that amount. There is a circuit board on the back of the gauge that must be repaired (I believe some of the components on the board fail, and they replace them). Easy to take out the tach, and reinstall. I just went through this earlier this year. |

I request to you excuse to me, Mitch. I hope to learn to write. The engine is ok. My 328 tachometer only reads 3000 RPMs when the engine is at any revs higher than 3000 RPMs. :-) I believe that it is a habitual problem in the 328 and for that reason I want to make sure if I need to change rev to counter or another piece, or simply is a bad connection. greetings.

I did not want to impunge your speaking or reading ability, and it was clear that you were not a native English speaking person. Sorry if I offended you. However, your question could be read: My engine stops accelerating at 3000 RPMs even though the gas is floored. {indicating an engine issue} or My 328 tachometer only reads 3000 RPMs when the engine is at any revs higher than 3000 RPMs. {indicating a tachometer issue}

The tachs on V8 cars of the late 80's are prone to fail and read to low. It needs to be pulled out and the electronics inside replaced. Dave |
