Thanks for the help. I was pretty sure they were painted silver as the area under the AC compressor was that color and the car hadn't been redone but just looking for assurance. |

I've seen a few tan ones, but silver is correct. It actually helps reduce fuel evaporation in hot conditions. Black ones are just where someone has done a lazy tart up/shoddy repair. |

The 72 I'm working on has the tanks painted black....looks like chassis color...semi gloss. Looks original as I've been working on this same car for the same owner since he bought it in 1982, and the tanks have never been out in that time. Regards, JRV |

Does anyone know what is the correct color of late-model 246 gas tanks? The raw tan sprayed on body shutz or were they then painted silver? |
