It sounds like the alternator is not working correctly. Sometimes when the alternator does not work correctly it will draw current from the battery instead of charging it making it seem you battery is faulty. I would get a current reading on battery and alternator while the car is running. The volts will most probably drop off when you rev the car higher.

My 348 has developed yet another strange problem-
First, the battery light flickered. Then the bat light illuminated steady. Indeed the battery is NOT charging. I verified it with a multimeter. All fuses check good. But get this: At the same time the speedo quit!
Anyone seen this before?
