Please don't think me strange and i'm not trying to poison anyone but----I smell and taste mystery fluids to determine their origin. Glycol antifreeze tastes sweet. Tom |

Look for damage first. I've fixed one that hit a pot hole and ripped the guts out the oil cooler...which is bolted to the radiator, which in turn was twisted by the impact and cracked. So look for signs of grounding/scraping etc. If no damage is obvious, look closely at as much of the radiator you can see, and follow the trail of blue! It could just be a loose hose clamp or something simple, so good luck! |

Phil, Thanks for the suggestion. I think that you are right as the fluid in my coolant reservoir is blue and seems to be of the same consistency. When I "look around" is there anything that I should be looking for in particular? Thanks. |

Your coolant/antifreeze could also be blue, or green, pink, yellow or a whole number of colours! 550's are very low and vulnerable on the radiator, so I'd remove the front floor panel and have a good look around. You can do it at home, but it's a bit fiddly. The panel is really big and there's a cooling duct connected to the alternator. |

I think you better drop the engine and pull the heads...oh, wait, its a 550 not a TR....yea, prob nothing. What color is the wiper fluid in the resevoir? Do we have a match? |

I have noticed a small stain on my garage floor that appears to be coming from a leak in my 550 Maranello. The stain is positioned about mid engine slightly on the passenger side. The leak must be small due to the small stain mark and the color of the fluid is blue. I am thinking that this must be a washer fluid leak - and hence nothing to get too concerned about. Does this make sense to others with more expertise? Thanks for the info. |
