get a buddy to help with the replace functions. this will give you two more hands. yes, this IS important. plus, if you have someone to assist, then that beer will taste better when you get done and stand back to admire your work. drive the car for a while, and you will be able to hear the tone began to mellow and change. very cool. good luck, let us all know how it goes.

James,
Was the thermal couple that was bent the one on the 5/8 side? If so it may be damaged. From what I know you do not need the thermal couplers, if the cats are removed. If cats in then to me it's best to leave them in since w/o them you might burn up the cats (the thermal couplers detect the exhaust temp to ensure the engine is running OK). However, the exhaust ECU (little black box below the 1/4 and 5/8 stickers that the thermal couplers sensors connect to) do go out. They cost about $70 to replace. You could exchange lf to rt, rt to lf and see if the light goes to 1/4. My 1/4 light comes on once in awhile even at cooler air temps, Oil / H20 temps are low so I'm in the process of replacing it. Also you might make sure that your connections are tight so no excess 02 is sucked in (long shot).
Good luck,
Jim

all,
i have installed the Tubi and test pipes. ran the car first at idle while waiting for on board electronics to reset, and no strong or gassy smell. (except for oil burn-off from touching things with dirty hands). ran the car two trips; 60 miles each...no change in smell. pretty much smells just like it did before.

Question...
1) withut the cats, why do i need thermalcouple? (other than the convience of the connection to the pipes).
2) slow down 5/8 came on (steady)during second trip. no loss of power. Eh??

3) can themalcouples become damaged? one was pretty bent inside of cat and had to be "persuaded" to be removed.

4) should i switch sensors to other bank to see what changes? 02 and heat?
