Allan,

I payed approx. $270 for each frontwheel bearing last summer.
$2800 is insane.

Even at 294 each, he paid 750 each!

Well, I guess I'm entitled to 1 mistake. Could have sworn that the 328 fronts were the same as the 308 QVs.

I guess I can see how FNA could be 2x Ferrari.uk.

Just went to Ferrari UK to check this out, the 328 is completley different from the 308 front bearing setup. It is a sealed bolted in bearing, price from them in US $ about 294 ea.

You gottabe kidding!
Seriously, they are standard Set 6 & Set 2 bearings available from NAPA, PepBoys, or any other auto supply store. Price is about $15/wheel!

Labor should be at most 1.5h/wheel.

The inner seals may need some looking to match up. The only thing that's hard to find is
the large spindle nut. They might have to come from a ferrari supplier. Still, I don't think they're more than $25-$35.

You sure it was bearings? $750 sounds more like the dealer price for a rotor.

On the 308 (which I've got to believe is the same), it is an SKF or similar part. Look at the cross reference list posted elsewhere and you can see the numbers.

I'm surprised they've worn. Generally it is a question of stripping it all down, flushing the bearings, letting it all dry, repacking with wheel bearing grease and putting in new seals ($30).The torquing the lock nuts to spec and punching them to keep them tight.

If the 328 is similar to the 308, your friend was fleeced and in his shoes, I'd price the parts and demand a refund.

Anyone have any idea on the approx costs involved in replacing both of them? Friend of mine just had both replaced at a cost of 2800.00! He was charged 750.00 per bearing, not including labor. Sounds rediculous to me.
