Thanks guys! Fun with switches - does hitting the cigarette lighter fix a flat tire? I feel kind a sorry for all of the modern Ferrari owners who just don't get to share in this kind of joy. I forget which Apollo mission it was 8 or 9, but all the computers and electronics' went out during lift-off. It was a very intense moment as they debated if to abort the mission or not. Then an engineer had remembered an obscure switch and told the crew to turn it to AUX. All the electronics came back on line and the mission continued on without a hitch. Cheers, Peter |

Peter, On my 328 both turn signals didn't work. If the hazard lights are on, the turn signals are overridden. The dealer took out the hazard switch and cleaned it, then both signals worked. He said the clue was that the small indicator on the dash did not come on when he tried the turn signals. Nothing wrong with the turn signals, just the hazard override. |

Verell is absolutely right. My left blinker used to work only when it wanted to. The right was fine. I found that, when I used it, if I pulled the lever to me slightly it would flash. One day I got really pissed at it and unloaded about half a can of Radio Shack contact cleaner up in it and to my surprise it fixed it. That was about a year and a half ago and the left blinker has yet to fail me since. Give it a try. |

The hazard switch controls power to the turn signals. Because it's so seldom used, the brass contacts tarnish until there's just a tiny conductive spot. Then the switch gets bumped or vibrated & the contacts slide a bit & the conductive spots don't line up. Presto, no turn signals. Fix is to flick the flasher switch on & off a half-dozen times at the start of each driving season, or whenever the problem occurrs. The switch isn't really bad, just needs to be used occasionally...

Yes, Peter...it is a common glitch amongst 308's. Had the same thing happen shortly after purchasing mine, and traced it to the hazard switch -- apparently it is tied into the same circuit. Bought a new switch, but never installed it since I haven't had a single problem since. |

So there I was driving along in my 308, during another beautiful day in San Francisco and I signal to turn at the corner - "Damn" the turn signal doesn't work. Pulled over in a parking lot checked the fuses and a few other possibilities and no luck and no turn signals. I accept that things do go wrong with the car from time to time and continue on my way (now using hand signals when necessary). I got home did a more through check; blulbs, switch, circuit -all fine, so I guess it's the relay. A week later - I hadn't ordered a relay yet, but it was another beautiful day and I wanted to take my car out turn signals or not. So I'm driving a long and I see up ahead a distressed car on the side of the with it hazards light on, hmmm? Maybe, if I turn on my hazard switch my turn signals will work or a least test the lights and relay. So I did, hazards worked. Tried the turn signals, they worked fine. Anybody care to speculate? If nothing else remember to try your hazard light if your turn signals go out, it worked for me. Cheers, Peter PS look for my 308 at the Ferrari showing in Washington Square during the Columbus day event on 10/12/03, San Francisco. |
