I had to use tach adapter #8920 on my Lambo. I think you will be the same. Call MSD tech support and they should be able to confirm on what to use for your application 1-915-855-7123.

Michael,
When you tried to connect your tach trigger wire to the MSD, did you connect it to the MSD tach output terminal on the side of the MSD box ?

Since the 3X8 engine is really two 4 cylinder engines joined at the crank, the tachometer is really a 4 cyl tachometer driven off of one bank. Therefore, only one MSD (and adaptor) needs to be used for the tachometer drive.
Hope this helps

Steve,

I'm still not using any tach adapter. With 2 MSD'would you be using 2 tach adapters? Should i tap the tach to only 1 MSD or to both of them.

To Steve's point above, I don't know if the MSD is the same, but my Electromotive direct fire coil system fires 2x on each cycle and requires a tach adapter to correct the input.

James,

The car runs really good with the MSD ignition, have better start and power. You'll notice a big difference on how smooth it idles. I'm using MSD 6AL 2 units 1 for each distributor

You have to run a seperate wire from the MSD box directly. It should show how to do this in the instruction sheet someplace(I beleive it's been awhile since i played with one of these)

I installed an MSD in my 308 and the tachometer would not work so i replaced the old tach with a new tach but it still wont work. If the MSD is disengaged the tach starts to function. Would anyone know what i should do to make the tach work with the MSD connected ?
