I've had NGK platinum in my 512TR for 15K miles without any appreciable wear on the electrodes. The performance gain over Champions was immediate and noticeable. The platinum electrodes have been superceded by the Iridium (7 times harder, last longer, less resistance). I'll change to the Iridium at the 30K service next month.

I use the NGK platinium. I know a few people in the UK that race with them. Go on what Steve has said...

Gene -- You've got to know what technologies you're comparing (standard electrode or exotic electrode). If that NGK is a "VX" platinum (e.g., D8EVX) or "IX" iridium (e.g., DR8EIX) style then that's a good price; if it's a standard electrode NGK (e.g., DR8EA) then it's the usual gouge. Champion also has standard and exotic plug types so without knowing which is which you really can't compare well. Do you have the manf PN for each?
