Hans -- I believe the jpeg on the Hill Eng site shows the "horn ring" portion (the thin ring of material projecting from the top surface):
PS I think this is 80mm OD type based on the close distance between the mounting holes and the OD. |

Steve suggests that the Hill Eng part either includes a horn ring or doesn't need one. If the ID is small enough, it wouldn't be needed. From the photo, it appears that the Hill part does have a smaller ID. BTW, Brian Keegan thought that the horn ring *may* be available directly from Ferrari in Italy. After FoUK couldn't produce, he received info from Italy shortly before I successfully begged Momo for mine. |

Having done both my previous 308 and current 328 with the OG Racing extension piece, I must day it makes the driving position much more comfortable. The only problem is sourcing the "horn ring adapter" from Ferrari or Momo. Momo has decided recently to drop selling this item seperately, and so it is now on the "unobtainium" list. Really silly, but not sure how to get one anymore...Hans says he begged the Momo rep at the Concourso in Monterey, and they sent him one. I sold DJ Parks the one that came with my Momo hub adapter that came with the new 328 steering wheel I bought from Ferrari UK (and no, apparently Ferrari UK cannot get the horn ring adapter seperately either). I guess my point is to source the horn ring adapter first, before buying the spacer, or your horn button will have no place to "snap" in.... |

Ken -- (Don't know if you're just making a joke, but) many of us install fixed spacer(s) to move the steering wheel towards the driver. Both OGRacing and Hill Eng. (our sponsor) offer ~1.25" spacers which is about as much as you can go with the 1-piece + longer screws approach -- although the OGRacing spacer is 86mm OD without the horn button ring projection (which fits a TR well) rather than the 80mm OD with horn button ring projection needed for a 308 (anyway some things to check with any potenial supplier -- 80mm or 86mm OD, and with or without the projection ring for holding the horn button) -- I don't know the Hill Eng OD size (but it has the horn button ring projection). For my ex-308, I fabbed a 2-piece 2" long 80mm OD spacer:
If you or anyone is interested in a copy of the 2-piece 80mm OD design (70mm bolt base circle, 55mm steering wheel ID) send me an email at [email protected]

I adjusted mine last night and it is much better now seeing the gauges and driving. Now if you could advise me on the telescopic feature that would be great!! |

Thanks Bob, I just purchased my first 308 and couldn't believe that Ferrari would make a car where the wheel blocked important gauges, I have been bending down to see the gauges, thanks for the tip to us rookies... |

Hiran, You can adjust the 328 exactly the same. I have done this on both 308's and my 328. |

Yes, I believe that the steering wheel in my 308 was raised a tad bit by a previous owner as well, since the ignition key hole is a little bit high from center of the dash cutout. As a result, the black plastic ring around the key hole keeps popping out. I can't get it to "lock" in place. Will try lowering the wheel a bit. |

In my 308 gtsi they are attached, and move together, its the way the steering wheel locks for security. |

I noticed that this also moved my key hole. Is there something I was doing wrong or is there a way to move the wheel without this moving too? |

Good point to bring out, I often see the wheel in the exact same position on many cars. I have done this adjustment several times. The one thing that does bother me is when I get the wheel in the best position, it blocks my view of a couple of gauges. Also, the top bolt is a pain to get at. |

After talking to new 308 owners, I was surprised that most of them did not know the steering column could be adjusted up or down. For their benefit here is how to adjust it, remove the small trim pc. covering the bottom of the column, looking in at the shaft you will see 2 bolts, 1 on top of the shaft and the other under it running from side to side. Loosen them both and adjust to suit, the lower one can be tightened while you are in the seat, making final adjustment a little easier. |
