Verell - My carpet is tan - It is in need of replacing - I am going to look into that once I finish the seats.

Thanks for the quick response George!

Jerry: You get EVERYTHING in the kit except a brush, rags and sandpaper.
VERELL: Yes there are 2 Magnolias a Jaguar and a Connolly. The Ferrari is always Connolly. The Jag folks go nuts when they see the difference of the two.
If I can be of any further help just ring me.

Jerry,
You did say Crema/Magnoila in your initial post. I did read it, but forgot it when I wrote my 2nd post(apologies.)
BTW, my interior is also Crema/Magnoila. I love it & am sure it's stunning in your blue car.
BTW, what color are the carpet panels on the door, & the carpets themselves? Mine are black, but I wish they were more of a tan as black shows every speck of sand, etc.

On my laptop's screen the color sample looks like a pretty close match to my leather's color. I did notice that GAHH had two different 'Magnolia' sample colors.

Thanks George - Can you tell me if the prepping agent is included in kit # 3 - I can't remember. I have seen the color magnolia (formerly Crema - I provided a link to the magnolia color down below in my first post) - Looks like it will look really good. I will make sure & follow that tip about prepping when the time comes.

Many thanks to Mike and Verell - I have printed out their threads and articles and will use as reference in addition to the Leatherique instructions. It's great having all these resources - I already feel like I know what I am doing before I even start!

My interior is definitely the crema and the exterior is Blu Chiaro (I think - My car is in the shop or I would reference the paint sticker in the engine bay). The crema is pretty common in blue F-cars - I have seen a few on this board - Augustine's 328 (Azzurro and Crema) and ZE Shark's 355 (Blue Metallic with Crema). I once saw a 355 Azurro with Crema - I just love the combination!

Thank you for the order Jerry:
Your match SHOULD BE exeact to the VM3997 which is Called Magnolia in our records. If it is NOT to your liking we will of course redo if required. Our batting average is pretty good less than 1% mismatch. We get about 125 dye orders per week on average.
As far as HOW TO, Mike did a great article , Thanks Mike and also Eric Eiland did his car.
NEW TRICK: When prepping try this. Use the PREPPING AGENT and add a FEW DROPS of REJUVINATOR OIL BEFORE you start sanding. The REJUVINATOR OIL works like a lube. We used 220 paper in R&D on a Rolls test seat and it worked great.
Any questons or problems please give us a ring. Krysti or I will be glad to help.
This is brought to you by Ramada Inn Connection!

I'm guessing that Jerry's interior is "cream", which is a nice combination with the blue.

Jerry,
If you're re-dyeing the complete interior, then close is good enough. Provided of course you like the new color. A lot of people have been very happy with their color matches. However, as you see, any company can make mistakes.

When Leatherique mixed my new dye, it was an exact match. I sent him the little button that covers the window cranking access hole. Put my name on the inside & on a tag I wired around the spring clips.

The match is so close that I haven't redyed my door panels or console yet & no one has noticed.

Well, I did fill a scratch on one door & redyed that section. Had to feather the edges very slightly to blend the newer color in. After a month or so, you can't spot the blend. Apparently the dye lightened very very slightly as it cured.

BTW, Auto seat Leather dye isn't really a dye, it's a surface paint that barely penetrates.

My Vanson motorcycle leathers are vat dyed & the color penetrates completely thru the leather.

Luckily with a 328, you shouldn't have a lot of layers of old dye to strip first.

BTW, Nice blue exterior, what color is your interior?

If I am re-doing all the leather, do I need an exact match? The old color won't be seen anymore correct?

Jerry,
I just re-dyed my drivers seat and a couple of small leather parts. I have a 348 with tan leather. The Leatherique products and instructions work fine. However, I think any other color except black will be a challenge to get the exact dye match. After two attempts Leatherique could not match the leather patches I sent them, but they did send some tint, which enabled me to get the match. They were close, but you'll probably have to spend sometime mixing and testing to attain perfection. Once the dye is on and set it really holds up. Good Luck.

Check out www.fca-se.org/conc_leather.htm for another version of my article, with links to pictures.

By the way, you'll probably use way less than 8oz of dye redoing your seats, center console and door panels! However, the 32oz of Prestine Clean and Rejuv oil will come in handy though that should last you several years.

Leatherique (and owner George Pavlisko) is a great sponsor/supporter of the Ferrari Club (FCA). By the way, George just bought a Testarossa! He's been "shopping" for a Ferrari for a long time.

Jerry -

I'm a big fan of leatherique products. Someone did a post here on the re-dye and they were very satisfied. Don't hesitate to call them and speak to the owner, George. Very nice guy and it turns out he is getting a TR on the 16th of this month and has just started posting here. Check profile for George Pavlisko...I think he may be currently in South Carolina for a trade show.

Here's a thread about my & Tifosi1's redye, lots of photos of things as they progressed:

http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/134850.html

Shortly after I got my car, someone pointed me to the FerrariList.com web site. It had hot links to two Ferrari FAQ sites. One of the first articles I read on the The FCA Northwest Region's Ferrari FAQ site was Mike's article:

http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/leatherdye.html
I'm not sure I would have tackled the job myself without his article! It gave me a detailed procedure to follow.

I just ordered a dye kit from http://www.leatherique.com/ to re-dye the seats in my 87 328 GTS. I have cream seats and I ordered Crema VM 3997 - They also call this color Magnolia :
http://gahh.com/SampleColors/3997.htm

Has anyone done this before? Do you have any tips to share?

My total cost was $150 - This included Rejuvinator oil, prestine clean, Cream Dye, Crack Filler, and a bit of black dye to repair a small gouge in the dash. They called the package - Kit # 3 - 32 OZ of everything. The black dye was separate from the kit.
