Paul,
What I'm planning on doing is rebuilding/restoring latches. ie: send me your old latch & I'll mold new rubber onto it, & make any necessary repairs.

Something to check:
It may not be so much that your latches are worn as that the rubber seal has taken a permanent set and they don't have anything to press against.

Verell, the latches on my 328 are sloppy so I would be interested in a set if you decide to make some, the OEM parts sound expensive for what they are.

Unfortunately,
you'll need to buy new latches & pins.

They're available from Ferrari.uk.
To get to their web site, you have to register with:
www.owners.ferrari.com.

Note: When the dialog box saying you need to download chinese (or is it japaness) fonts appears, just click cancel. I got 100MB back from my hard drive when i figured out where it went!

Once logged in, click on 'spare parts' on the left menu bar.
Then click on the small gold colored [go] box on the r.h. side in the area titled 'spare parts service'

Finally you're at the Ferrari.uk site & can either use their catalog, or search (on the top menu bar).

You'll have to download a viewing program to see the parts diagrams.

The roof pins & hinges are located under:
Body Panels Outer and Inner Bodyshell - Outer panels:
[39] #60189008 PIN ROOF LOCATING 308GTS 6.70
[45] #60421500 GTS ROOFHANDLE(use SCREW=20299905) 91.25

It's a shopping cart system, & takes credit cards.

The above numbers are the ones I looked up a while ago for my Euro 308 GTS QV, but I'm pretty sure that the 328 uses the same parts. Best you go to the web site & check tho.

I'm thinking about making a set of molds to restore the latch handles, but probably not for quite a few months yet.

Pins are available from the dealer, about $9 or so. I replaced them on my 308, and my current 328. The new pins (use the same on 308,328,348 and maybe even the 355) are made from a hard plastic material that is much more durable.

I don't think you can order just the rubber bits for the latches, you will probably need to order new (expensive!).

The factory recommended way to store the top is pins up, with the top facing the seats, and the inside facing the back wall. Be sure and use the vinyl cover or you will mark up the seat backs and the top from them rubbing against each other.

My rear shelf fabric is torn from the previous owner storing the top upside down (with the latches loose, presumably). I think if the latches where at least closed, you could probably store it upside down without a problem.

Hi Guys,

My targa top looks great but the rubber on the latches and the pointed pins in front are becomeing deteriorated. Can you purchase just the rubber parts or do you need new latches and pins to restore the top.Where do you get such things? Is the top the same for all GTS, regardless of the model year?

Bye the way, what is the proper way to store this in the car? Pins up or pins down?

As always thanks so much for the wisdom and help on this board. It has saved me a fortuna!
