Thanks Jim and Hans! No specific thread on this project, just lots of little ones. In fact I think I probably annoy lots of fchatters because I ask so many questions about TRs. I'll post more pics soon after I get the top end done. Then it will look like an engine. It takes lots of parts sourcing and hours of work, but the results are worth it. |

That is gorgeous. Is there another thread on how you got the engine block looking better than new? |

Off topic: Wow. TR motors are pure art. Are you sure you want to re-install in a car? It should be in your living room. |

Steve: Thanks...yep....maybe my eyes are finally going bad! And thanks for the wiring info. I'll follow up now that you've given me the correct numbers. Dale: The tubes are uncovered just for the pics, normally plugged. Thank You for your concern. I'd have to find a mouse living in there some day. |

Jeff -- Can you check your eyeballs? I have the stock TR Bosch starter solenoid as 0 331 303 032, not 0 331 308 032 (but I'd still use the Ace Electric 7-851). In the stock TR set-up, the white wire from the ignition switch goes to the terminal 50 spade on the Bosch starter solenoid (but in your case, this white wire will be used to "close" that extra relay, which, when closed, will put +12V from the main +12V battery cable onto terminal 50. The white/blue wire goes to the 15a spade terminal on the Bosch starter solenoid. |

Hello....I'm getting ready to re-route the wire harness on the engine. I didn't notice this when tearing things apart, but now see there appears to be an extra solenoid kinda wired in series to the original. It was located on the right side of the "spine" of the motor, mounted on one of the rod bolt access plates. Looking at pics of other TR motors it seems this should not be here. I should have taken better notes and/or pics prior to disassembly - my fault. If the original solenoid is bad could this be rigged up as a quick fix? The original solenoid has four terminals, two blade style connectors and two round ones. I'm not exactly sure what wires go where. Also if possible I would like the correct Bosch part number in case I need a new solenoid. The part number showing on my original solenoid is: 0 331 308 032 This number does not seem to exist when I tried a couple of places. Is there a newer one? Here is the starter, what wires go to which terminal?
Here is the extra solenoid. The wires coming off it go to the starter...though I don't remember which terminal.
It's getting closer to being finished, but the little things are really slowing me down. But compared to how it was this is a huge improvement.
