Steven, I hate to disappoint you, but I won't have time to mount them for several weeks. I may bring them along in the luggage compartment tho, just to show them off... Funny thing, back when I was in college I co-oped with Varo,Inc. They made Xenon arc searchlights for helicopters & tanks. Had a beautiful 500W variable beam helicopter gun light the size of an oatmeal container. Always dreamed of replacing my XK150's headlights with a pair of them. Talk about driving lights... Now their descendants are available off-the-shelf & OEM std!!! Too bad they opted for lower power rathar than lumens... |

I put Hella lites on a custom mount to the front grill, because i didnt want to cut the grill to have them installed like the euro style as seen in the fotos attached.

Steve, The driving lights on my 308 were already on the car when purchased. Not sure what model / brand they are, but the lens says Bosch Halogen. Here are a couple of pics of how they look on the car, along with a closeup of them:
As far as the on/off switch goes...there was a generic looking black toggle switch mounted between the oil gauge / clock ahead of the shifter. I didn't much care for the look of this switch, so I replaced it with a factory 308 switch just like the others on the center console. Here's a pic:
It now matches the others, and gives it more of a factory look. Hope this helps...

Actually, I want to mount the lights a wee bit higher and farther back. However, with the bumper moved back there really wasn't a "graceful" way, I could find, to do it. The bumper is rubber/foam filled with a metal plate in the middle. I used two metal spacers between "medal plate" and the light mount/light nut. |

Steve, The Euro versions came with fogs as standard so there is are round holes on the frame to mount fog lights. i simply replaced the aged stock units for newer, improved units. Only took about 30 minutes :-) Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Rochlin

Stephen/Steven nice job. In the euro grill mount how are the lights mounted. On the bumper mount did you drill and tap into the bumper and did you find metal or drill into the rubber. They both look good. Thanks Steve |

I used Hella 550's mounted to the bumper - which has been moved in. Wired the relay so the lights come on with the high-beams.

I've just bought a set of Sylvania Xenarc X1010 Auxiliary Low Beam (aka driving) High Intensity Discharge lights for my '82 Euro 308 GTS QV. Just arrived yesterday. They're slimmer than the original lights, with a chrome band around the lens that dosen't show up well in the pix. Still look pretty handsome. Given the 308's lack of chrome, I may look into painting or powder coating that chrome band satin black tho. http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/x1010.htm
Still, they should throw a heck of a lot more light @ olny 35W/bulb than the original Carello Auxiliary lights did. Will take photos & write-up the installation when I get to it. |

Steve, I assume you have also installed a good quality headlight already? Great place to start. The neatest way to install driving lamps and make it look oem, would be to buy the Euro grill...probably not cheap! For headlights and driving lights: http://catalog.com/susq/hella/headlamp.htm |

For all that have installed driving lights on their 308's I'm looking for the best selection. Can you please show me a picture of what you did and how you did the installation.I'll be considering doing an installation over the winter and just looking for suggestions. Also how did you deal with the on/off switch. |
