Here are the tools and materials needed. The paint is black semi-gloss Dupli-Color Engine Enamel (ceramic), which I got at Napa, rated to 500 deg. I used a rust inhibiting primer on the rear since they were subject to more rusting than front, which gets steady dusting from brake pads with more heat and doesn't rust as much. I used the straight fiber wire wheel style brush for calipers. Tip-Spray entire drum and use the mineral spirits on a shop rag to wipe off the contact surfaces when paint is still wet...works like a charm and gives perfect line. Ron, the wheels are HRE and they are 18". They also show much more of brakes than OEM wheels, but I love them. Jim |

Love those wheels! Who's the manufacturer and what are the wheel and tire sizes? They look like 18 inches from the picture. |

Mine were new at the begining of the season. 10 - 15 track days and they look well use. The issue is the heat cycling of the rotors will cause the material to rust. My guess is you may end up doing this once a year. Some one had cad plated their rotors/bought cad plated rotors (Mike Charness?). Curious to see how they stand up to (track) wear. Mike? |

I agree looks great - I second the question - What paint did you use? Also, could you post a pic of the wire brush you used on the brake calipers? Thanks! |

Pre painting...rusty
Pre painting
Post painting...nice
Post painting...nice I used a wire brush on drill to clean up the calipers, which look brilliant and do not need painting. |
