Listen to dennis! Also, everyone like CF lightweight seats. But saftey people recommend using a back brace with a cf seat since they can break. Aluminium seats don't break and do not require a back brace. The weight of aluminium seat vs back brace set-up plus cf seat are about equal. So you have les junk in your car and a safer seat plus aluminium seats are dirt cheap. You buy one just a bit bigger than you need and you can do a custom foam fit job and still be less than the cost of an off the shelf one size fits all CF seat. Forgot one think, it is not that CF seats break but CF seat break because casual weekend racer own them for long periods of time and the cf breaks down with fatigue and fail. Aluminium can stand lots of owner abuse yet deform enough to support you like a catcher mitt in a big rear end collision just like CF. On another safety thing go look at www.isaacdirect.com

Keep in mind that a 355 cockpit is a bit tight. Many street/track seats will NOT fit unless you modify the interior, either by trimming the center console/bin or by trimming the surround beneath the parking brake lever. One piece racing buckets will likely fit better, but still be sure to check all dimensions before purchasing.

IMO, Recaro makes superior seats, especially for an endurance car. You pay a premium, but it's worth it.

The Challenge seat for 348 and 355 was the OMP Vid, no longer in production, but an evolution is. This is a bolt on if you find the Ferrari Challenge adapter brackets. Though for any competent race shop, installation of a seat and fabrication of custom brackets is a no brainier.

Not to say seat installation does not require a brain. Quite the opposite, this is your primary safety device in the car, so think about it before you take on this project if you don't have the experience. A shunt can place 10,000 lbs of force on the seat or more.

Salman,

I don't have them mounted on my 355. I'm using them for my Stratos 308QV replica. The mounting of the seats is basically the same for all the brands of racing seats.

Thanks Jeff I'll definitely be checking out the Sparco series. BTW was the fitting easy on your 355? Any issues with them since you have been using them?

I'm a "wide" guy myself and most of all the seats I've tried (Momo's, OMP's, Cobra's, Corbeaue's) squeezed the old butox a bit more than was really comfortable. I found that the Sparco "EVO 2" and the Sparco "EVO 3" were the best suited to my frame. I'm 5'7" 210 lbs and a 40" waist.

Hope that helps

Most racing seats allow you to get various sizes. Pick one large enough and remember, if you are driving it on the track, be sure to add a couple inches for your driving suit.

My Problem is that I'm in a backwater called Kuwait and pretty much testing out Momo or OMP seats is out of the question. I'm a big guy (I mean sideways not vertically :-) ) so putting that into perspective which racing seat would you guys recommend?

Momo makes a variety of good seats and at great prices. Who knows how much the carbon fiber Momo seat I have cost new. I needed a passenger seat and got a Momo fiberglass for about $300 and you can't tell any difference from the carbon fiber seat.

The biggest single factor in choosing a good race seat is You. Each person build makes the difference it what makes a great seat for one, but a terrible seat for other. Also, your driving position affects the seat choice.

I had the genuine 348 Challenge seats in my 348 OMP carbon fiber, I forget the model number. They were great for upper body support, but the angle of the leg supports was too close to vertical.

At the track, I generally sit closer to the wheel than when street driving. Hence, at the track, my lower thighs splayed out over the leg supports, causing me much discomfort (and actual bruising!) by the end of a track day. A seat with a similar back but less vertical leg supports was the answer for me.

Try to find a dealer near you and go "test sit" in the various seats.

Hi,

Just wanted to hear everyones opinion regarding racing seats with the harnesses as to which one is the best.

From what I've seen so far it seems OMP and MOMO are very popular. Which would you say is the one appropriate to be used on a 355.

Thanks
