Just returned from a 45 min ride to verify that the problem was fixed and the code wouldn't re-appear. Worked perfectly. Prior to fixing this wire the code would reappear as soon as the engine warmed up. Thanks everyone for your help.

In cleaning up the pile of hoses between the oil filter and gearbox, I decided that part of the mess was caused by hoses for the oil vapor recycling being too short (these are the two hoses, part #140360, that join in the center rear of the car at a 3-way union). They were only 18" long so they couldn't reach a good mounting point. A short trip to the auto parts store yielded 4' of 10mm emmission hose which allowed me to run them back to the subframe under the airbox and ziptie them there. Hope that was the right type of hose.

Thanks for posting the codes.
I believe I have found the problem. The contact point for the black wire in one of the O2 sensor connectors had backed away from its mate within the connector (argh!). I haven't tested my fix yet, because I decided to also take on the task of securing the rats nest of hoses that sit on the oil filter and gearbox. Trying to route and zip-tie them so that they don't rub or sit on hot surfaces. I'll report back later.

No luck yet. I cleared the code and went for a drive. Came up again and read it with the engine running. I'm getting 1-1-1-4 on the 1-4 bank (which is the one showing the checkengine light). Also saw a code on the other bank (code was 1-1-2-1), but I'll deal with that one later. Can someone interpret these codes for me?

BTW, which book has this info? I haven't found it in the 348 workshop manual, so I feel bad that I have to keep bugging everyone for the readings.

Lou,
unplug exhaust temp ECU to see if 1-4 light goes away and report back here.

Like John stated, one will always get 4114 when checking codes with the engine not running. It is for the TDC recognition and it only means the engine is not running.

Keep reading the errors, they come out in sequence.

Thanks. I had already tried resetting it and it came back. I'm rather sure that I've never seen this one before yesterday. I'm surprised it is a TDC fault. I was fully expecting it to be a O2 sensor complaint since I just put on cat bypass pipes in preparation for the FCA-SE track event. My expectation had been that I had twisted one of the O2 sensor wires when installing it in it's new home. I'll try to play around with this a bit more.

that I have been told is a normal error for when the car is not running. I get that every time I check the codes if I remember correctly.

Lou, My listing shows that it is "TDC control unit recognition". Did you try resetting it? Did the code return? If it did not return it probably was a one time fault. If it returned, I will try to find more information for you.

I'm getting a check engine light for bank 1-4. If I read the blinking lights correctly, the error code is 4114. Does anyone have the diagnostic info for this? Motronic 2.7, 348/MondialT. Thanks.
