My Facet pump required some trivial modifications to get it mounted. Some rubber grommets and (maybe) a bracket... GT Auto Parts in Arizona will be able to provide info on this. Ferrari UK (FChat Sponsor) also sells the Facet pumps as OEM replacement.

The Facet's have screw in fittings and you simply choose which you want. I use a 90 deg 8mm(5/16") on top and a straight one same diameter on bottom. Use PTFE tape on the 90deg fitting and set to the desired angle. As they have an idling capability due to the reciprocating operation (instead of rotary), you can reduce the diameter of the fuel return hose from the cyl#7/8 Carb banjo. A section of steel/copper brake pipe pushed inside and slightly squashed is a good restrictor. This will reduce fuel priming times and evaporation problems in hot conditions. You cannot do this with the rotary pumps as they'll over pressure and flood the float chambers. |

The "red Facet" pump looks like it's not hose/pipe compatible with the original?? |

Thanks guys. And good one Steve! The reason I asked is I wanted to take the car for a spin yesterday and the pump made a terrible grinding noise when I first turned the key. So, up went the car on jack-stands and out came the pump. I took it apart and noticed no broken pieces or anything else amiss, just the armature of the motor was kind-of sloppy. I have yet to put it back together and back into the car. If the "rebuild" is successful, then fine, I'll keep on driving. But if it still makes that noise, then a new one it shall be! Mike, when you say "red Facet" pump, do you mean the "Red Top Interrupter" by Facet (looks like the one in the photo of that link)? |

Talk with Jeff or Mark to confirm, but I *know* that Ferrari UK sells the red Facet pumps that are apparently "approved" OEM replacement. I have one in my car. Others do as well. (308 GTS). My stock pump looks just like yours (not sure if it's identical). Brand is Corona. --Mike

These come up on Ebay from time-to-time new old stock and don't go for too much. Some Fiat 124's used them- at least physically they are the same. Dennis McCann should still have some. |

Has anyone purchased a fuel pump from Ferrari of UK? If so, can you confirm that it is the same as the stock one, pictured below?
The reason I ask, is I seem to remember (vaguely) that someone (or possibly others) who purchased from them got a different style pump... I'm aware of those who replaced theirs with a Facet/Purolator type, purchased domestically (U.S.A.). Thanks. |
