Thanks Jeff, I'll look out for both manuals. If anyone knows a (cheap) source for these, please could they post details?

My car has had a full mechanical heads-off overhaul, including belts etc., and a new clutch in the past month and is generally in immaculate condition. However I would like to carry out some detail work to the body, in particular to doors. The electric windows are slow/sticky and there are a few minor signs of corrosion which I would like to address. An 'exploded' view of the door and any tips on dismantling it would make the job a lot easier.

Stephen...both manuals are, in my view, absolutely essential if your going to do any work on these cars. The parts manual is very informative in showing the sequences of assembly, and the shop manual has descriptions on methods of adjustment and testing various systems. Both my manuals are cheapie reprints bought off ebay for something like 130 bucks. They are worth every penny. You could work on TRs without them but you'd be doing a lot of guessing on procedures and stuff, not a good idea with a Ferrari. The potential costs of simple mistakes are way too high. Like Luigi's manual, mine too had the incorrect Mondial info. in the engine removal section. And Thanks to Henryk for sending me the proper pages. The shop manual seems to be written with the assumption that the reader has above average mechanical skills and some of the language is vague, and even incorrect at times. But I'd be lost without it. I read it over and over, each time getting a bit more out of it. This way I gain the confidence I need to tackle jobs I would otherwise pay too much money for someone else to do, such as my TR's full engine out service. So as you can probably tell I cannot recommend enough that you get the manuals.

Henry, I too have a TR but no the workshop manual. Is it worth getting? Please could you send me the scans too to give me an idea of the detail it gives? I've heard that the parts manual is better in some ways.. it has exploded diagrams I think, but again I've never seen it.

My email is [email protected]

Thanks,
Steve

Hank, sorry to hear you hit a snag. I don't know about shim buckets. An idea to remedy the pole barn prob-I have an enclosed trailer with a heater unit that I turn into a workshop sometimes. Works great. Good luck. Hope all goes smoothly from here on out.

Hi Jim: I am now taking my time......TOO cold!!!! My pole building is impractical to heat.

I work a few hours, in the middle of the day, a couple of times a week. It seems this will take a long time.

After the mishap with the shim buckets, I was put back quite a bit, regarding time. I have all the things I need, except that I will have to order 5 shim buckets......otherwise, I have everything else.

I replaced one motor mount, and plan on putting the trans back into the subframe. Then I will slowly work on the shim bucket problem.

Oh well......Originally I thought this would be a Winter project, and now it seems that it will be.

So, Hank, I am curious how your service is coming. Is it complete? How did it go?

Just like Jeff Green I to will be heading down the path of removing my own engine myself for the first time. With all the threads Jeff has posted I hope will help. You see I bought my car with no service recordes and my water pump is starting to leak. I figure I will pull the engine and do a service on it at the same time.

My workshop manual shows the engine remove of the Mondial. I ask if anyone out there has an orig. workshop manual does it show the steps to remove the TR engine specifically. If it does could you please scan it and e-mail me a copy, this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Lou
