Stock size Dave, I had installed the front rotors a little while back but have yet to do the rears. The pads are EBC Greenstuff. |

I rebuilt my rack last year (308). No big deal, just takes time. The seal for the pinion thet connects to the steering shaft & wheel is a Honda gear shift case seal for a bike. The part number on my receipt is 91203-KK3-830. The description is Oil Seal 14mm x 22mm x 5mm. Fits like a glove, no leaks. Make sure to change the rack bushing inside the housing on the passenger's side. These are quite prone to failure because of the soft material that they are made of. You can get an uprated one from Norwood in Dallas. Ask for James, he will know what you need and is very helpfull. |

Well, begs the question...what brand on the rotors, who sold them, and who drilled them?

Dave, Most interesting...Thank you. I'm thinking about new/rebuilt shocks for my BB, as a Winter project, and am looking for possible alternatives to the OE Konis. Best of luck with your suspension overhaul. Regards, David |

David, the shocks are from QA-1 Motorsport, They sent me the non-adjustable rebound and compression shock by mistake, but I thought what the heck as little as they cost I would try them out and see how they worked. The springs are from Eibach. 325lbs front 275lbs rear.

BTW, factory racks are pretty reasonably priced at Ferrari UK. I got one for my 328 for $800 delivered (includes new rod ends). Versus having my 16yo one rebushed, I figured I would spend a few hundred more and get "new". |

That would be the one Russ... I have been meaning to install it for a couple of years now, so I decided to do the entire bottom end for my winter project. |

No, Philip, it's the shaft seal. I can't remember if the motorcycle part is all that is available anymore, or if it simply is cheaper and easier to find. I'll have to do an archive search, as the subject came up here a year or so ago. The cover you speak of is leaking, too. End boots are dry, but it leaks like a sieve everywhere else! |

Thought I'd post what that area looks like two days later... Frame area after clean up
upper with new bushings, also shows mod area to arm clearing new springs & shocks.
upper with 26 year old bushings
Still a long way to go...

Hans There is a cover which from memory takes a silicon seal. I don't think you'll be able to reach the securing nuts while it is in the car, but you might be able to disconnect the steering rod, loosen the mountings and rotate the rack enough to remove the cover and re-do the silicon. I believe the "Honda part" you refer to is the passenger side bushing which does tend to go. I had mine honed out and a new (custom) bushing pressed in and honed to fit. |

I'm headed out of town tomorrow, but will be rebuilding my rack when I get back home next week... I will be putting in the new fast turn 2.5 lock to lock rack & pinion, new gators and track rod ends. But the rest of the suspension is getting a go through as well. |

Mine leaks from the 'input shaft' seal. OK, bad terminology. The leak is on the part that eventually connects to the steering wheel. I've heard that there is a motorcycle part (Honda?) that is a good replacement for this seal, but either the rack has to come out, or else you have to be a contortionist to reach the offending part. |

I have done mine. It is not a difficult thing to remove. Just be careful with the spines and releasing the endlinks from the steering arms/hub. All told I seem to recall it was a couple of hours to pull out for a "weekend mechanic" (me). Quicker second time through or if you are a more accomplished wrench. Where is the rack leaking from? If it is the gators, you probably don't need to pull the rack out of the car. If the bushings need replacing (like mine did), you do. HTH |

David, you need to pull the front wheels off then you can get to the nuts from either side. |

The steering rack is leaking on my 328 but i cannot see how you get to replace it.I have taken the bottom cover off but you still cannot reach the bolts which hold the rack in place.Tech info required. |
