You can actually fry your alternator if the battery is not properly connected

it can happen, and could also indicate an alt issue, make sure neg cable to battery is tighten down

My 328 was running fine, I hit a pot hole and the brake lights flashed, car sputtered, then shut down and would not restart. I checked the battery and one of the ground wires had jostled free. I thought a car, once running, would continue to run even if the battery was disconected. Would a disconection of a battery cable cause a 328 to shut down??
