No, you are correct. You can usually unbolt the AC compressor and push it up and forward, then tie it securely with some rope or wire. This way you don't lose that precious R-12. Some folks replace the studs holding the front cam belt cover to the engine with long bolts, which will allow you to take off the cam belt cover in the future without touching the AC compressor. |

I have a 80. I can't see how to get it out without. I thought it would just slid out but it's getting hung up on the cover. Am I looking at this wrong? |

79 will come out w/o removing the compressor. Earlier requires compressor removal. Just done mine (77). Yes, a bit of a PITA, but not too bad of a job. Good luck |

Is it true that I have to remove the AC compreesor to replace the water pump? Is there any other way to get it by the front cam cover. If so what a pain in the a--. Any ideas? |
