I'd be happy to help as well. Those pictures sound classic.

I just got back from a drive and dinner. I'm a new owner so tell me this: does it always feel like Christmas when you were 6 when you fire up your car? I love it.

Met some nice people at the restaurant when I came out. They were looking at the car and wanted to know more, so I told them. This is so much fun! :-) Are you guys used to it or does it still give you a kick in the pants?

Vincent,
Ill post some pictures as soon as I can figure out how to do it.
It may take a while. I have a shot out the garage door that shows one side of my car and 3 1/2 feet of snow outside. Another shows a six piont buck looking in the garage door at the car.

You must be wayyyyyy up North. Any further North from here and your in Caribou country.
Or worst yet POLAR BEAR country. As I understand it a ticked off hungry polar bear can eat an entire Ferrari in one sitting!

Wayne,
1959 Frankfurt Show car, Two tone car white with silver roof. Then as I understand it to Prince Bertil of Sweden ( I have not spoken to Bertil however I have an aquaintance that is a friend of the family and assures me that he will get me more info from the Royal Family). Then to Langdon Procter ( I have spoken to the aging Mr. Proctor, a well known playboy at that time, on several occasions and he has told me many interesting stories about driving the Ferrari into Paris on weekends to play) Then to Jon Lindsay a dentist in Monterey. Jon and I have tried to get together at Monterey for the last three years without success. Then to Mark Wilcoxen in San Francisco who I bought the car from. If you know more please do tell.

Vincent,
I did get the passenger side done on my 308, but I dropped the Driver side bolt and it rolled into a floor drain. I will have to order another one as the grate is welded on, and I couldn't see the nut in all the crap down there.
So tomorrow I'm going to take the 250PF for a drive. ( If it doesn't rain )

I've owned mine for 2+ years, put 15k on the car. They should be driven at least 2xs per week. I commute with mine, free bridge, that's how I just the driving.

Vincent: Have you ridden in a 355? They are quite a bit quicker than a 348, maybe close to the GT40.

Matt,

i can't even seem to keep mine in the garage. I try (well not really). Just tonight I have had some friends come over for soup night. Everybody was late and dinner was ready, but one of my friends, who was on time, wanted a ride. Twist my arm :-). Left a note and we took off for 45 minutes. I don't understand how people can only put 1000 miles a year on their car. I'm only worried now that I've been neglecting my audi, and I love to drive her as well, she's very responsive and the all wheel drive is a lot of fun.

My 348 is approaching 80k, I've put on about 1000 in the last month including a trip back from phoenix. The mechanic who put on the tires and fixed the seal for me couldn't believe how well this car ran, and how clean it it. Cars, these cars especially, are supposed to be driven, wound up once in a while.

Basically, Matt, I agree. I didn't buy this car to sit around in the garage. I love driving it: the sound, the sensations through the steering wheel, everything about it.

It was neat to see, today, some guys driving their 250 gt's on the mille through rain and all kinds of conditions, and not complaining. they treated it more like an adventure. That's what these cars are. I look forward to my next one already.

I could go on and on.....but I think we all get the picture.

Art,

see you sunday. I'll give you a call when I get to the bridge.

BTW guys: got a ride in my friends gt-40. That is the fastest car I have ever been in. What a rush!!!!!! when he steps on it, your feet actually come off floorboard, unless you're braced pretty well. WOW!

Art,

Not to worry, I won't be dropping anything behind me. It was just this pesky little seal at the back of the transfer chaft which terminates in the clutch housing. Actually there are three seals and one of the new ones was not good.

Everything is ok now.

btw, the mille miglia just went throuhg napa and I saw a bunch of f-cars including a 250gt california. I will post some pics on the main board when I get a chance.

Sounds good.

I just got the 348 back and no more leak. It is now, officially leak free, just gotta keep driving it to keep it that way. It almost has 80k on it, just shows how driving these cars really does keep them up. On the drive back, couldn't help myself but had to take a few detours. :-) Even got to drive through some rain, I was actually kind of happy about that, got to use the windshield wipers, and they work perfect. Though it did mean a little more cleanup after the drive.

Cheers, here's to hoping you're back on the road soon.

I can't remember where that video came from. I think a friend of mine added it at the end of the 50 year Ferrari Celebration that he recorded off of a TV special for me. The whole thing is really neat. Also on the video is a portion called The Italians with a lot of focus on the cars.

Bozeman is a neat place and the Beartooth is in that area by Red Lodge. You must have skied at Big Sky? The real gem for skiing at Bozeman is a local hill called Bridger Bowl. It's a third the cost of Big Sky, and the snow is some of the best in the world. It just located in the right place for major powder dumpage all the time!
The roads in this area are fabulous for driving, especially south to Yellowstone park, and West Yellowstone.
I once reached a state of uphoria in a 71 XKE near Yellowstone, but it wasn't the car!

Sweet! I went to Montana once on a ski trip. ended up in Bozeman, great trip. But we did the whole drive in a 1973 two wheel drive suburban...no one was in a state of euphoria. The skiing was epic. Bill, those roads look and sound awesome.

I live in Montana where we still don't really have a speed limit. ( Don't tell anyone )
Today I saw a yellow Diablo driving thru town. I couldn't see the plate though.
We have very great driving roads here. Check out the Going to the Sun road or the Beartooth Highway on line if you can find them.
Ferrari actually sent an F40 to drive the beartooth a few years ago. I have a video of it and it is pretty cool. The driver is hooked up to a moniter system that is watching all body reactions. The moderator explains that the indications are that the drivers body is experiencing a state of euphoria.
Anyway, the weather is changing and the cars get out next weekend for spring.

Hey guy's don't forget that there are actual Ferrari owners in the North! We do live here, and unlike you stinking Ferrari owners who drive your cars year round in stinking 80 degree weather, we carefully put our cars in the garage before it snows, and take them apart, and put them back together several times in anticipation of some STINKING SPRING WEATHER.
Ok its getting warmer now.
