Thanks,
The job is done and it was very messy. Just got back from a drive ( Of course it was short )and no leaks that I can see. I forgot to wash the affected area and will do that tomorrow.
I'd almost forgotten the sound at high RPM with the top off. It's nice!

Bill,

mKe sure you wash the area with water to keep the coolant from damaging the car.

and coolant does get everywhere.

Bill,

make sure you open the reserve tank cap AND the bleeder valve on the rad. The bleeder is on the Pass side, upper corner.

When you fill the system,

Keep the bleeders open on the Rad AND the Thermo housing. Fill in the Tank and wait for it to spit from the Rad bleeder, once you see fluid, Close that valve. When you see coolant spit from the thrmo valve, close that one. Fill the tank to 1/2. Start the car, check for leaks. Once the car is up to temp. Park the car at an angle so the Pass side front is higher then the driver rear.

With the engine on. open the rad bleeder to let the air out. Repeat has necessary. It might take 4 or 5 times to get all the air out.

Glad I could be of help. You're right, it's nice and peaceful here. That's why us SoCal guys like to get away from all the noise and "vacation" here every once in a while!

Wayne,
Thanks it does help, but it looks like coolant is going to spill all over anyway. Thank God I can stand up in the pit with a five gallon bucket and try to catch it.
Why post in the Tech section, you got me the answer pretty fast.
Besides it's nice and quiet here!

By the way, you probably would have gotten a better response by posting this in the Tech section, don't you think?

Where is the coolant drain located on a 308. Are you just supposed to unscrew the Temperature sending unit and let it spill all over the place?
This is going to get messy!
