I believe that Monterey is in California. I will check my airline tickets to make sure and let you know.

Tom, probably because more people want to get there for the beginning, before they miss everything...

did they finalize the rates for the events? the fca website still says prelim - just send the money :-) Also why is it more expensive the beginning of the event (when nothing is happening) at the hotels than at the end of the event??

Over the years I've stayed in Gilroy once and Salinas twice. I've finally learned my lesson and now make my reservations in January!

Thats a nice option to have rooms available at this late date. My first time there I had to stay in Gilroy, it was the closest available rooms.

I am going to try and make it as well.

Big Sur is absolutely beautiful. I used to camp down there all the time.

I go to Concourse Italiano every year. It is a must do in my book. Just being in Monterey ( one of my favorite places on earth ) with all the freeking cars that are there is crazy.
I like to go down to the Double Tree on Thursday afternoon as they are unloading cars for the auction. You can get quite an eye full there.
Also a drive down to Big Sur is incredible. Every car going North is an exotic.
Two years ago I passed about 6 Diablos parked at the side of the road, and a very pissed off Highway Patrolman was waving his ticket book in the air and yelling. The next day at the concourse I asked a Diablo owner if he knew what had gone on there. He just said that he heard that some Diablo owners were in deep !
